Not only does the Hard Hat Inspecting accomplish set requirements it also provides a safer environment for staff, maintains the equipment giving longer life span and the reporting provides an asset register for accounting insurance or other purpose.

An effective Inspection & maintenance program for protective helmets “hard hats” in accordance with AS1800 can substitute the need to replace them. The standard has a recommended life of the helmet shell of 3 years and the insert harness of 2 years. Regularly replacing sweat bands and proper maintenance allows extended life of the helmet.

The main purpose of the inspection process is to ensure that helmets that are defective or expired are taken out of service and to develop an issue register required by the standard.
