Microwave Testing

Axiom Compliance can provide Microwave testing but in most instances it is not a compliance issue. Normally microwave ovens are perfectly safe and don’t require regular testing. By law oven manufactures must undertake testing before any product is launched onto the market and the ovens only need to be tested if there has been damage to the seals or doors, if the oven is dropped or catches alight.

Unfortunately there are companies that prey on an excessive fear of microwaves leaking from ovens but if the microwave is in good condition and operated in accordance with the manufactures instructions simple steps can be taken to ensure safe operation.

To safely operate the microwave always have manufactures instructions next to the machine and explain to users how to inspect the microwave before use. If the microwave in your workplace shows any signs of damage, have it serviced and tested immediately or replace it.

Inspect Your Microwave

Before you use your microwave check that-

  • The surface of the door is not damaged
  • The door fits squarely and securely and opens and closes smoothly
  • The door hinges are in good condition
  • The oven is cleaned and, in particular the door edges and interior surrounds are not covered with food or burnt material
  • No corrosion is evident on the door, the door hinges or the oven interior
