RCD (Safety Switch) Testing
Most RCDs are set to trip at 30 milliamps and must open with in 300 milliseconds in order to prevent death or serious injury. Axiom compliance use specialised test equipment to measure the trip time and current to ensure your safety device will work when needed.
Fixed RCD (Safety Switch) Testing
A residual current device (RCD), is an electrical wiring device that disconnects a circuit whenever it detects that the electric current is not balanced between the energised conductor and the return neutral conductor. Such an imbalance is sometimes caused by current leakage through the body of a person who is grounded and accidentally touching the energised part of the circuit. A lethal shock can result from these conditions. RCDs are designed to disconnect quickly enough to mitigate the harm caused by such shocks
Portable RCD (Safety Switch) Testing
For a tradesperson or the home handyperson who works away from a fixed safety switch, portable protection is a must. The cords of power tools and electrical garden equipment are easily damaged and using any appliance in damp conditions can be dangerous. It takes only a tiny amount of electrical current to seriously or fatally injure a normal, healthy adult. The severity of an electric shock is usually determined by the amount of current flowing through the body and the length of time the current flows before it is cut off.
